NMPED ATTENDANCE FOR SUCCESS

Across the country, more than 8 million students are missing so many school days that they are academically at risk. Chronic absence—missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences, and suspensions can result in third-graders unable to master reading, sixth-graders failing subjects, and ninth-graders dropping out of high school.

Be Here Day! February 12th, 2025

Alamogordo Public Schools is excited to host Be Here Day on Wednesday, February 12th as part of our #BeHereAlamo #AttendanceMatters initiative! Our goal is to achieve 100% attendance districtwide and remind students and families of the importance of being in school every day.

Regular attendance plays a crucial role in academic success. Missing just two days of school per month—even when absences are excused—can add up quickly and put students at risk of falling behind. Be Here Day is an opportunity for schools to celebrate strong attendance habits with fun activities, friendly competitions, and special incentives to encourage students to show up and stay engaged.

While we understand that illness and other unavoidable circumstances may prevent some students from attending, we encourage families to make school attendance a priority whenever possible. Your support helps create a strong foundation for your child's academic achievement and future success.

Alamogordo Public Schools is excited to announce that we will be implementing a new communication tool within PowerSchool, known as Attendance Intervention Suite, to help keep you up-to-date on the attendance of your child. Regular school attendance is fundamental to a student's academic and personal development. When students attend school consistently, they are more likely to succeed academically, build positive relationships with peers and teachers, and develop essential life skills.

We invite parents and guardians to partner with us in prioritizing their child's education by ensuring their regular attendance at school. We understand that there may be challenges that can affect attendance, and we are here to support families in overcoming those challenges.
