Photo of staff and community donors for the holiday give away

Alamogordo Public Schools (APS) extends heartfelt gratitude to the outstanding organizations, businesses, and individuals whose generosity brightened the holidays for 225 children, including APS students, their younger siblings, and their families. Through collaborative efforts, our community has shown what the spirit of giving truly means, ensuring that the season is filled with joy, hope, and memorable experiences for those in need.

This year, the Sacramento Mountains Foundation, Alamogordo Rotary Foundation, Christus Southern New Mexico, MTC Otero County Prison Facility, the Mafioso Car Club, and numerous compassionate individuals came together to provide vital support. Their combined donations of over $16,000 made it possible for each child to receive a complete outfit, stocking, cozy blanket, book, toy, a family gingerbread house kit, and vouchers for a family photo session, new shoes, and a coat. Families were also entered to win one of four beautifully decorated Christmas trees donated by First American Bank, adding even more cheer to the season.

“It is amazing to see the incredible outpouring of support from our community,” said Lisa Patch, Executive Director of Health Services for APS. “The smiles and joy these gifts bring to our families are priceless. This initiative showcases the power of unity and the impact that kindness can have. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make this holiday season brighter for our students.”

Patrick Bond, representing the Alamogordo Rotary Foundation, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative. “We’re honored to be part of such a meaningful effort. It’s wonderful to see the community come together to support our students and their families.”

Danielle Bynum, Director of Operations for Physician Practices for Christus Southern New Mexico, expressed the hospital’s ongoing commitment. “Our community is so close-knit, and we are our community. If we’re not the ones helping and being there for each other, then who will be?” she said. “I encourage other business owners and leaders to step up and answer the call. Together, we can make a difference.”

This initiative was brought to life by the dedicated efforts of APS’ Health Services team, whose commitment to our students’ well-being goes beyond academics. Special thanks also go to the countless volunteers, community members, and APS staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a seamless and joyful experience for our families.

APS is proud to be part of a community that exemplifies compassion and generosity. Your contributions are not just gifts; they are investments in the happiness and well-being of our children and their families. Together, we are making a lasting difference and creating cherished memories for those who need it most.
